Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Rehabilitation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience in acute inpatient rehabilitation Ability to perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and respiratory treatments as ordered Experience with BiPap/CPAP devices Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the rehabilitation specialty. The average daily census on the unit is 10 patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6 across all shifts. The facility has a total of 12 beds. The Registered Nurse will provide care for patients with pulmonary conditions, cardiac conditions, neurological issues, orthopedic recovery, debility, and amputations. Skills required include monitoring angina, hypertension, post-myocardial infarction, and blood glucose levels. The nurse must manage feeding devices and adaptive equipment, along with care for feeding tubes, including NG and PEG tubes. Responsibilities also include implementing swallowing precautions and thickened liquids. The Registered Nurse will perform Foley catheter removal and administer blood and blood products. Care and management of ports and central lines (PICC lines) are essential to this role. Starting and maintaining IVs and performing venous blood draws are required skills. Knowledge of anticoagulation therapy and seizure management is necessary. The nurse will assess and manage conditions related to cerebrovascular accidents, neuromuscular diseases, Parkinson's disease, and traumatic brain injuries. Other required abilities include using assistive devices, applying prostheses, checking pulses and circulation, and performing suture and staple removal. The role involves working with total joint replacements, incentive spirometry, oral and nasotracheal suctioning, pulse oximetry, and supplemental oxygen delivery. Patient teaching regarding diabetes and fall risk assessments and prevention will be necessary. Infection prevention and isolation precautions must be followed. The nurse will use lift and transfer devices and adhere to national patient safety goals and core measures. Pain assessment and management, patient education, pressure ulcer assessment and prevention, and the management of restraints are part of this position. Wound care is also required, along with administering nebulizers and CPAP treatments. The nurse may float to other departments as needed. Regular floating may occur between various departments, units, and facilities. The role requires flexibility to meet facility needs. The Registered Nurse must comply with any specific requirements related to patient care.
