Job Summary The ICU Surgical (Intensive Care Unit Surgical) registered nurse position is based in the healthcare facility. This role involves providing critical care for patients with complex surgical needs, including liver and kidney transplants, vascular surgeries, ENT procedures, abdominal surgeries, and breast surgeries. The position offers an opportunity to work in a busy, Level 1 Trauma setting with a focus on early recognition of patient condition changes and advanced patient monitoring.
Job Details
Position Description: ICU Surgical RN responsible for caring for critically ill surgical patients in a Level 1 Trauma hospital environment, managing complex clinical conditions such as transplant, vascular, ENT, thoracic, abdominal, and oncological surgeries.
Certifications and Qualifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required; valid RN license in the state; willing to wait for license submission.
Experience & Education: Minimum 2 years of ICU or surgical experience preferred; experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and titratable drips (vasopressin, epinephrine, etc.) is required.
Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours, minimum 36 hours per week.
Responsibility Highlights: Early recognition of patient condition changes, clear communication with providers, critical thinking skills, handle complex surgical patients, operate ICU equipment including ventilators and monitors, and perform patient assessments.
Additional Information: RN float to other ICU units within the hospital as needed, with specific orientation requirements. On-call and weekend work required, with flexible floating based on staffing needs. Professional attire required, and EPIC charting system is used.
