Job Overview

This position entails responsibilities within a Cardiac Telemetry unit, providing care to a diverse patient population ranging from adults to geriatrics. The role requires performing vital sign checks and blood glucose checks as part of the nursing duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry readings.
• Provide nursing care to patients with conditions such as post-myocardial infarction, heart failure, arrhythmias, chest pain, and peripheral vascular disease.
• Administer peritoneal dialysis as required.
• Conduct EKG and Doppler studies.
• Perform vital signs and blood glucose checks consistently.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members using the SBAR communication method.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience is required; first-timers are accepted.
• Charge nurse experience is required.
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required.
• Proficient in Epic electronic health record system is essential.

Work Environment

• Average nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5.
• The unit is equipped with 16 beds, with an average daily census of 16 patients.
• Navy blue scrubs are required.
• Floating between units within scope of practice may be necessary.

Scheduling and Availability

• Nights: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30).
• Each 6-week schedule period includes 6 weekend shifts.
• Requests for time off (RTO) should not exceed 7 days.
• Blackout dates for RTO include Spring Break (April 4th-12th).

Holiday Requirements

Travelers are expected to work on major holidays as follows:

• One major holiday: 1 shift required.
• Two major holidays: 2 shifts required.
• Three major holidays: 2 shifts required.

Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counts as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counts as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day.

Compliance

Full compliance is required prior to the start date. Failure to comply on time may result in a delay of up to 2 weeks due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule.
