TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Billings, Montana.
UNIT: TELE NURSING RESOURCE
Beds: dependent on what unit candidate is stationed on. Could float to Inpatient Medical, Inpatient Surgical, Cancer Care Unit, Ortho/Neuro, Observation, Psych (if candidate is comfortable), ED holds
Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years MedSurg/Tele experience
Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, but do prefer travel experience
Required License, National Certification, Certs: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
All adults, no peds
Medical: COPD, CHF, respiratory/kidney/liver/GI issues, CIWA, wounds, cellulitis, various infections, GI bleeds, etc.
Surgical: bariatrics, urology, abdominal, some ortho, ENT, hernia repairs,
Oncology: multiple myeloma, GYN onc, radiation oncology. Will NOT be required to give chemo
Ortho: hip/knee/shoulder replacement, fractures, ankle repairs, spinal surgeries, traumas. Would not be required to take specialized patients (like external fixation) unless comfortable
Neuro: strokes, spinal surgeries, TIA vs. stroke rule-out, seizure monitoring, head injuries, altered mental status, MS, encephalitis, cranies (not fresh)
Observation: stable post-cath, chest pain, syncope, weakness, dehydration, TIA, cellulitis and minor infections, minor surgeries, simple post-cath patients, AKI, UTI, CHF/COPD exacerbation, kidney stones, low-risk DVT
Patient Load:
Days: 1:4-5
Nights: 1:5-6
Could be primary care on 1-2 patients if short CNAs
Support within the Department:
Charge RN typically does not take patients, but can take reduced assignment on Nights
CNA – typically take 8-10 patients on days, 10-15 on Nights
Admit/Discharge RN during weekdays
VA/PICC Team
Receptionist/HUC – during the day
Phlebotomy 24/7
RT 24/7
Hospitalist 24/7
Intensivist 24/7
PT/OT/SLP during days
Telemetry monitoring/tech
Technology/Equipment:
EMR: Cerner
IV Pump: Alaris
Med dispensing: Omnicell
Monitors: Philips
Unit specific equipment
Floating: Anywhere in the hospital within scope of practice
Orientation (facility and unit):
NEO
2-3 shifts of unit orientation
Scheduling:
Weekend rotation: 6 weekend shifts in an 8-week schedule
On call? No
Holiday Expectations: 1 winter, 1 summer holiday
Approval of RTO: to go through manager
Shift times: 1900-0700, 0700-1900
Schedule cycle: Self scheduling. Staff will sign up first, then traveler. If coming in the middle of a schedule, will be assigned shifts until schedule opens.
Could consider block scheduling if requested, but no guaranteed.
Scrub Color: Any solid color, professional. No graphics, logos, designs.
