- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, approximately 36 hours weekly
- Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Healthcare Setting: 28-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit
Telemetry RN Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of professional Registered Nurse experience required
- Recent acute-care experience in Med/Surg, telemetry, stepdown, or a comparable hospital setting
- Current RN license in the working state or compact licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Successful completion of a dysrhythmia examination required
- Ability to interpret cardiac telemetry at regular intervals and accurately document findings in the electronic health record
- Experience with cardiac drips, including Cardizem, nitroglycerin, and heparin, is highly valued
- Experience with CAPD, chest tubes, hemodynamic monitoring, temporary pacing, and advanced respiratory modalities is preferred
- Travel nursing experience is not required
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, and every other holiday
Telemetry Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing nursing assessments, identify patient priorities, and develop individualized plans of care.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient condition, and respond promptly using sound clinical judgment.
- Administer medications and intravenous therapies safely, including cardiac and anticoagulant drips, in accordance with applicable standards and policies.
- Provide care for patients requiring tracheostomy management, BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and other oxygen therapies.
- Manage patients with chest tubes, multisystem conditions, hemodynamic monitoring needs, and temporary pacing devices.
- Administer and monitor conscious sedation as appropriate to patient care needs.
- Evaluate patient responses to treatment, revise care plans, and escalate concerns to the interdisciplinary care team.
- Coordinate care across departments while serving as a patient and family advocate.
- Provide clear education and emotional support to patients and their caregivers.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, promote patient safety, follow infection-control practices, and contribute to quality-improvement efforts.
