Travel Nurse RN - Trauma Intensive Care Unit - $2,157 per week in Houston, TX

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Duration: 6 weeks Shift: 12-hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS Must-Have: CRRT trained Description: RN's need to be open to floating. This is a busy and large Level 1 trauma unit. Candidates should be flexible with scheduling. Electronic health record experience is required. Successful placements typically have 3+ years of experience, previous travel experience, and have worked in a high-acuity hospital. Unit details include a total of 25 beds across two sections. Patient ratios are generally 1:2, with occasional 1:1 assignments. Experienced ICU RNs are preferred. Common diagnoses include heart and lung transplants, LVAD patients, as well as ACB and valve surgeries. All vasoactive drips for cardiac patients may need to be titrated by RNs. There is a charge nurse who manages patients most of the time. A patient care assistant is available on the floor. There is an intensivist model in place with respiratory therapy present in the ICU 24/7. Hardwire monitoring is utilized on this unit. Scheduled shifts are based on unit needs, requiring weekend work. RN's may be the first to float out based on competency. Scrub color is teal. Unit-specific orientation includes 2-3 shifts with preceptors. Devices commonly seen include LVAD, CRRT/SLED, Impella, and IABP. There is no call or standby requirement. Holiday work is expected as per scheduling needs.
