Job Title: Wound and Ostomy Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Wound and Ostomy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours (6:45 AM - 3:00 PM) Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred License: Registered Nurse License (State) Certifications: BLS, Wound and Ostomy Certification preferred Must-Have: Wound Care Certification, Long-Term Care experience, Hands-On and Pressure Injury experience Description: The Wound and Ostomy Registered Nurse establishes satisfactory interpersonal relationships with co-workers, colleagues, patients, families, and significant others. Initiates communication with patients and families to determine their individual needs. Initiates communication with co-workers and colleagues from other disciplines and departments to share and exchange ideas and information. Provides detailed patient education to patients and family members during their inpatient stay and at the time of discharge, following prescribed teaching plans. Responds effectively, both verbally and non-verbally, to communications from patients, families, and significant others, as well as from colleagues and supervisors. Demonstrates ethical decision-making and actions on behalf of patients. Shows sensitivity to the values of self and others. Involves patients and families in the plan of care, incorporating their cultural, spiritual, and other belief systems. The role involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and bending. Wound and Ostomy Certification is preferred.
