Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Observation Unit position requiring Illinois RN licensure and Epic charting experience.

Details

• Work in the Medical Observation Unit of a hospital environment
• Day shift schedule from 7:00AM to 7:30PM
• 36 hours per week over 3 days per week on a 12-hour shift schedule
• No on-call responsibilities
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• Every other holiday coverage required
• Floating to similar units required
• Uses Epic EMR for charting
• Assesses IV sites every 4 hours and starts new IVs per facility policy

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing required (temporary license accepted)
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Basic computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsers
• Strong critical thinking and independent judgment skills

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process to assigned patients, including assessment, care planning, and implementation of interventions
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care, with quarterly chart audits required
• Identify changes in patient status and respond appropriately
• Attend a minimum of 5 out of 6 staff meetings per year
• Report and correct safety hazards for patients and staff
• Collaborate with colleagues and provide constructive feedback to support professional development
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Returning contingent workers must take a 6-month break in service after 1 year of continuous assignment before returning to this health system
