Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring Epic experience and a Compact or LA RN license

Details

  • Hospital-based Oncology unit caring for Hematology, Medical Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), and Gynecologic & Surgical Oncology patients
  • 7-bed positive pressure wing dedicated to BMT and acute leukemia patients
  • Performs bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
  • 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Utilizes Epic-integrated Alaris IV pumps, barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 7:15
  • Weekend coverage required every other weekend
  • Floating required
  • No call-in requirement

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand at time of submission
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
  • ONS certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, with 2 years of specialty experience preferred
  • Epic charting system experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and PICC line management
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
  • Experience managing central lines, ports, and blood product administration preferred
  • Knowledge of cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response protocols preferred
  • Experience with isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required within 4 weeks of consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to complex oncology and BMT patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
  • May be assigned to an internal Emergency Team during declared emergency events, requiring on-site presence until relief arrives
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel position
  • RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required prior to starting the contract
  • Orientation is held five days a week
  • Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a full one-year separation from the health system before returning as a traveler
