Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Oncology unit position requiring 2 years of specialty experience and a compact or LA RN license in hand.

Details

  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
  • Oncology unit caring for hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant (BMT), and gynecologic and surgical oncology patients
  • 7-bed positive pressure wing dedicated to BMT and acute leukemia patients
  • 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Performs bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
  • Uses Epic-integrated Alaris IV pumps, barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Float requirement applies
  • Weekend coverage required every other weekend
  • No on-call requirement

Requirements

  • Active Compact or LA RN license required in hand upon submittal
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
  • ONS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology specialty experience required
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, and peripheral line care required
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
  • Experience with central line blood draws, blood product administration, and PICC line management preferred
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias preferred
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to hematology, oncology, BMT, and gynecologic/surgical oncology patients within a specialized positive pressure unit
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring extended stay at the facility during declared emergency events, per facility policy
  • Orientation is held five days a week
  • Two Manager or Supervisor references (Charge RNs not accepted) will be required prior to starting the contract, though not required for initial consideration
  • Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible, based on driver's license address
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors at this health system must have a one-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • RTO must be finalized and disclosed prior to interview to avoid offer complications
