Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Operating Room Circulator, Location not specified Provides intraoperative circulating nursing care in an acute care setting supporting orthopedic, general surgery, urology, and ear, nose, and throat procedures. The role includes weekday 12-hour shifts, operating room call coverage, unit-specific orientation, and collaboration with surgical teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
Job Details
- Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts, generally 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a minimum of 36 hours per week. The primary need is three shifts per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
- Required Qualifications: Active nursing licensure required. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) required. At least two years of intraoperative circulating Registered Nurse experience required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with orthopedic procedures, including total joint replacements, open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) for fractures, arthroscopic procedures, and orthopedic spine cases; general surgery procedures; urology procedures; and ear, nose, and throat procedures. Scrubbing experience is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to learn quickly, work diligently, and participate in operating room call.
- Additional Information:
- Supports an average of 10 to 15 cases per weekday.
- Provides weeknight call coverage, usually one night per week, with occasional additional coverage.
- Provides weekend call coverage approximately every fourth or fifth weekend and may include holiday call coverage.
- Requires arrival within 30 minutes of a call.
- Dedicated to the operating room; floating is not required.
- Unit-specific orientation is provided on-site by clinical coordinators and operating room leadership.
- Blue scrubs are provided, and surgical attire is required while on duty.
- The role supports a Level III Trauma Center serving acute care surgical patients.
