Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital, requiring an active SC or compact RN license and 2 years of experience.
Details
- Work in the Main Operating Room of a Level I trauma academic teaching hospital with 21 OR suites
- Surgical specialties include Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
- RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures
- Nursing team consists of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
- Up to one working weekend shift per 4-week schedule period
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within scope to like units or sister facilities
- Uses EPIC for charting
- Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
Requirements
- Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
- 2 years of OR experience strongly preferred
- Scrub experience strongly preferred
- Level I trauma center experience preferred
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- SSN and driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Facility is a Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, and Magnet-designated hospital with 820 staffed beds
- Fast-paced, nurse-driven department utilizing cutting-edge surgical technology
- Scrubs are provided
- At least one holiday period must be worked, either Christmas (Dec 24-26) or New Year's (Dec 31-Jan 1)
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the facility system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Candidates residing within 60 miles are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized
- All requested time off must be submitted with the application for consideration
- During hurricane season (June through November, peaking August-September), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
