Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at an acute care hospital in South Carolina, requiring 4+ years of OR experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting (119 staffed beds) in South Carolina
  • General OR unit performing a wide range of surgical specialties including gynecology, orthopedics, general surgery, neurology, trauma, urology, ophthalmology, and podiatry
  • Robotic surgery experience relevant — facility uses the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
  • Hana Table used in the OR
  • Charting via Epic EMR
  • 4x10-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM
  • Weekend requirement varies by staffing needs, typically every 4th weekend with weekday coverage
  • On-call required — weekday call runs 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM on a rotating basis with staff; call schedule may shift based on staffing needs
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units or sister facilities, may be required
  • Surgical scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Free parking available on-site

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or compact RN license must be in hand prior to start — candidates with a pending license may be considered if proof of application or SC walk-through eligibility is provided, but clearance to work will not be granted until the license is active
  • Minimum 4 years of OR RN experience required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Prior travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Circulator experience required
  • Experience with gynecological, orthopedic, general surgery, neurological, trauma, urological, ophthalmological, and podiatric procedures strongly preferred
  • SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Candidate must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for standard travel rates; local candidates within 60 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Previous permanent or PRN staff of the MUSC health system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of initial consideration — RTO requests submitted after will not be accepted
  • Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
  • Block schedule requests may be submitted for approval prior to the assignment start, but approval is not guaranteed
