Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with at least 2 years of operating room experience to join a high-volume surgical department requiring call rotation.

Details

• Acute care operating room setting with 19 surgical suites
• High-volume caseload of approximately 55-60 cases per day, roughly 1000 cases per month
• Full-service facility performing most case types except major pediatrics and transplants, functions as a level 2 trauma center with some ortho/neuro trauma and robotics cases
• No c-sections performed in the main OR
• Uses MEDITECH EMR
• Day shift schedule, 10-hour shifts from 0645-1715 with rotating days off
• Weekday and weekend call required on a rotating basis with two specialty teams (ortho/neuro and cardio/thoracic) covering nightly call
• 30-minute call response time required
• No floating required
• Charge nurse role is filled by the nurse manager
• OR techs on staff are CST certified
• RT and pharmacy support available 24/7

Requirements

• Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2-3 years of operating room nursing experience required
• Must have basic competency across nearly all surgical services
• Skills checklist must accurately reflect true proficiency level
• Scrubbing not required but preferred

Additional Information

• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility based on driver's license address to be eligible for placement
• Not eligible for placement if previously employed by the facility within the last 12 months
• One week of floor-specific orientation provided
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis alongside permanent staff, flexibility needed
• Scrubs provided by facility
• Surgeons on call 24/7 covering their own cases
• Candidates should be reliable, punctual, and flexible with strong attendance
