Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN with general surgery experience for a 13-week assignment requiring travel experience and on-call availability.

Details

• Operating Room unit in a hospital setting
• Day shift schedules (5x8 hours): 6:45 AM-3:15 PM or 10:45 AM-7:15 PM, with some 4x10 hour flex options including 12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM-7:15 PM
• On-call responsibilities required, up to five 12-hour call shifts per six-week period, primarily weekends (Saturday 7:00 PM through Monday 7:00 AM) with occasional Tuesday night call
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Performs a wide range of surgical specialties including vascular, gynecology, plastics, podiatry, neurology, orthopedic, general surgery, urology, and bariatric procedures
• Experience with robotic surgical systems such as Da Vinci Xi and Mako preferred
• Utilizes equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana Table, and Steris systems

Requirements

• Active RN license - MD state license or Compact license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of General Surgery OR experience required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
• Community hospital experience required; teaching hospital experience preferred
• Prior travel assignment experience required
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years
• Driver's license required matching candidate's address for local status verification
• Flu vaccine required

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care across a broad range of surgical specialties including vascular, gynecologic, plastic, orthopedic, neurologic, urologic, and general surgery procedures
• Scrubs are provided
• Weekly orientation held on Mondays, with ASAP start preferred
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a travamp
• First-time travelers will not be considered; at least one prior travel assignment is required
