Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Orthopedics RN with CA licensure and at least 2 years of recent experience for a fast-paced 15-bed unit.

Details

• 15-bed medical-surgical orthopedic unit with a 1:5 RN-to-patient ratio
• Patient population includes post-surgical trauma, plastic, vascular, and other surgical and medical patients
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• 13-week assignment length
• Fast-paced environment with a cohesive, supportive, and collaborative nursing team

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in-hand at time of application (EMSA not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
• At least 1 year of full-time equivalent experience in orthopedics within the past 2 years required for specialty consideration
• BLS certification required
• CPI certification preferred (required for ER and Float Pool roles)
• MS or Ortho certification preferred
• EPIC EMR experience required and must be reflected in work history
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, and central line blood draws preferred
• Experience with non-invasive airway management, PCA, and peripheral nerve block catheters preferred
• Two supervisor references required at time of application
• Copies of all required certifications required at time of application

• Provide direct nursing care to post-surgical orthopedic and related trauma patients
• Collaborate within a highly supportive and cohesive nursing team
• Prior travel experience required unless otherwise exempted
• Minimum one year gap required for previous permanent staff returning as travelers
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract highly preferred, with no RTO allowed within the first two weeks of the assignment
• Manager interview may or may not be conducted prior to placement
