Job Description:

Wilson Medical Center, a 294-bed Joint Commission-accredited hospital in Wilson, North Carolina, is seeking an experienced PACU RN to care for patients recovering from surgery and anesthesia.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor patients during post-anesthesia recovery.
• Assess vital signs and manage patients' recovery after surgery.
• Provide post-operative nursing care according to ASPAN standards.
• Monitor cardiac status and manage IV therapy and oxygen support.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and quality care.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• Previous PACU experience required.
• Current ACLS and PALS certifications required.
• ICU experience preferred.
• Meditech experience preferred.
• Must be willing to work 8-hour and 10-hour shifts as needed.

Shift and Call Requirements:

• Rotating shifts, with start times varying between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
• 36 guaranteed hours per week.
• Call typically once per week and every 3–4 weekends.
• May be asked to assist in other surgical services areas when needed and available.

• Department: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• Unit Capacity: 8 beds plus 1 isolation room
• Patient Ratios: Based on ASPAN standards; may be 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1
• Equipment: Cardiac monitors, IV equipment, SCDs, nasal oxygen, Omnicell, and blanket warmers
• EHR: Meditech
• Patient Population: All age groups except neonates
• Floating: Not routinely required
