• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Orientation: 72 hours
• Patient Population: Pediatrics through geriatrics

Job Requirements

• Active Maryland RN license or compact RN license at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of PACU nursing experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification or equivalent required
• Comfort working with a 1:4 patient ratio
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Strong background in acute care recovery or post-operative nursing preferred
• Ability to float within specialty as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care for surgical and procedural patients
• Monitor patients in Phase I and Phase II recovery
• Assess airway status, pain levels, sedation, and vital signs following surgery
• Respond to changes in patient condition and coordinate care with the surgical team
• Support recovery for orthopedic, neurology, cardiothoracic, vascular, general surgery, thoracic, urology, and gynecology cases
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy, drains, and other post-op interventions as appropriate
• Document patient assessments and recovery progress accurately in the charting system
• Educate patients and families on post-procedure expectations and discharge instructions
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to promote safe, efficient patient flow
