Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a Level 3 trauma teaching hospital, requiring 1-2 years of specialty experience and MN RN licensure.

Details

• Work in PACU, Pre-Op, and Phase 2 recovery across the main hospital and an affiliated Day Surgery Center (two locations within the same health system)
• 1:1 patient ratios
• 3x12 day shifts, with start times ranging from 0530-1800 through 1100-2330
• Weekend shifts required as needed per unit needs
• No on-call requirements
• Float required between the main hospital and Day Surgery Center locations, within scope
• Uses Epic (Excellian) for charting

Requirements

• Active MN RN license (pending license accepted)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; NIHSS required, PALS preferred
• 1-2 years of recent PACU/Pre-Op/Phase 2 experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic/Excellian charting experience required
• Skilled in airway assessment, ventilator care, ABG interpretation, and intubation/extubation
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, arterial and central line management, and vasopressor administration
• Experience with pre/post-operative care including EKG, wound vac management, and patient education
• Minimum of one supervisor reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide pre-op and post-anesthesia recovery care across general, cardiac, neuro/spine, ortho, GI, GYN, and other surgical populations
• Support procedures including craniotomies, spine surgery, cardiac catheterization, and total joint replacements
• Care for patients under various anesthesia types including general, MAC, spinal, and nerve blocks
• Facility is a Level 3 trauma teaching hospital with over 300 staffed beds
• Scrubs provided by the unit
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must live at least 100 miles from the facility to be considered, with no local exceptions for this specialty
• Returning staff must have been separated from perm employment for at least 3 months prior to starting a travel assignment
• RTO should ideally be no more than 5 days
• Facility does not provide references for travelers post-assignment or for former perm employees
