Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring GA or Compact RN licensure and float coverage across MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units.

Details

  • Float position covering Medical-Surgical (MS), MS/Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) units within the hospital
  • Adult to geriatric patient population with MS, MS/Tele, and PCU diagnoses
  • Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Patient ratios average 1:4-5 on PCU and 1:5-6 on MS/MS Tele units
  • Required to float to all MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units within the hospital
  • Every other weekend required, averaging 6 weekends across a 13-week contract
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic EMR (required), along with Pyxis and SBAR systems
  • Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Prior charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Clinical skills should include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and peripheral line care, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, and respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP and tracheostomy management

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care across MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units, floating as needed based on facility demand
  • Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, use of rapid response/code teams, wound care, and renal and endocrine patient management
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with all time-off finalized at time of consideration
  • Holiday coverage required based on assignment length: 1-2 major holidays occurring during the assignment must be worked with no holiday RTO permitted, while 3 major holidays require coverage of 2 with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers previously cancelled or not-returned by the facility must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
