Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

About the Position

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Telemetry Registered Nurse to join our team at a community hospital in Spokane Valley, WA. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of telemetry or progressive care unit (PCU) experience. First-time travelers are welcome to apply.

Unit Information

This role involves floating between various units within the hospital while operating within the scope of practice, providing critical care to patients in different settings.

Areas of Care:

• 3rd Floor: Medical/Surgical (44 Beds)
  • Medical patients: COPD, CHF, Sepsis, AKI/CKD, DVT, PE, cellulitis, pancreatitis, ETOH
  • Surgical/Ortho: total joints (knees/hips), GI, GU, GYN procedures, and more
  • Telemetry capable with dedicated tech support
• 2nd Floor: Acute Respiratory Floor (16 Beds)
  • Patients with COPD, pneumonia, CHF, and other respiratory conditions
  • High flow and BiPap support available
• 1st Floor: ED/MS Overflow
  • Observation and general Medical-Surgical patients
• Progressive Care
  • PCU level patients within the Critical Care Unit; no ICU patients
  • Includes patients with Afib RVR and medical/surgical progressive care needs

Patient Ratios

• Medical/Surgical: 1:5
• PCU: 1:3, without CNA support

Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications:

• BLS and ACLS required
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation exam to be completed during compliance process

Skills Required:

• High flow oxygen management, chest tube care, IV starts/maintenance
• Wound care and dressing changes, wound vac management
• Nephrostomy tube care, pain management, patient-controlled analgesia
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and management of various drips (e.g., Heparin, Amiodarone)

Support and Resources

• Certified Nursing Assistants available on Med-Surg units
• Charge RN available to provide support with partial patient assignments
• 24/7 Phlebotomy services for peripheral draws
• Respiratory Therapy on site 24/7
• Access to Hospitalists during all shifts
• Team of OT, PT, and SLP during day hours
• Rapid Response and Code Teams readily available
• Centralized telemetry monitoring with technicians available 24/7

Technology and Equipment

• Electronic Medical Records (EMR): EPIC
• IV Pump: ICU Plum Medical
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis

Orientation and Scheduling

Orientation includes one day of classroom training followed by 12 hours on the unit, with time allocated across three units. A cardiac rhythm interpretation exam is a prerequisite prior to starting.

• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Holiday Expectations: 1 holiday per contract
• Shift Times: 0700-1930, 1900-0730
• Mandatory breaks and 30-minute meal periods
