Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring CA licensure and the flexibility to work across multiple hospital locations on night shift.

Details

• Float position covering multiple hospital campuses, including Thornton (La Jolla), Jacobs (La Jolla), Hillcrest, and East Campus (La Mesa)
• May also float to the Emergency Department Inpatient (EDIP) overflow unit
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• PCU/IMU patient population covering general medicine, surgical, neuro, onc, cardiac, and ortho cases
• Patient ratios: IMU 1:3, Tele 1:4, MS 1:5
• Uses EPIC and Pyxis systems
• 4-week schedule provided two weeks in advance with no blocked or self-scheduling
• Specific facility assignment communicated via phone call 2 hours prior to each shift
• Floating required to all PCU units and to Med-Surg units based on census

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• 2+ years of PCU experience required
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
• Specialty experience must be within the last 2 years for at least 1 year full-time equivalent
• Current certifications required: ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• CPI Blue Card (Crisis Prevention Institute) required in-hand for all float RNs
• IV start, telemetry, phlebotomy, and A-line experience required
• EPIC experience required and must be reflected in work history
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Two supervisor references required, including at least one from the specific unit within the last year

Additional Information

• May be reassigned primarily to a new cardiology/neuro-focused unit at the East Campus location if it becomes active during the contract
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
• Previous UCSD employees must disclose this at time of consideration and be approved by UCSD prior to starting
• Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year to return as a traveler
• Up to 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first 21 days of the assignment
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
