Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a float PCU/Step-down position requiring charge nurse experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• Works in a Progressive Care Unit/Step-down setting within a short-term acute care hospital
• Floats to fill staffing needs across the institution, caring for patients ranging from ER boarded patients to telemetry and med-surg
• Patient ratios vary from 1:4-6 depending on unit acuity
• May include charge nurse responsibilities on select smaller units staffed with 1-2 RNs supported by LPNs and CNAs
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 3 years of previous charge nurse experience required
• At least 1 year of recent RN experience required
• US clinical experience required; Canadian experience alone does not qualify
• BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, cardiac drips, and respiratory care skills such as BiPAP/CPAP and tracheostomy management preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities may include managing staffing needs, bed flow, and general unit coordination when functioning as charge nurse
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted site
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be accommodated
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required, which may include Charge RNs or Leads
• Former Providence permanent employees must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and cannot be within 50 miles of the facility
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Must reside within 50 miles of the facility for local candidacy
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
