Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry position requiring an OH or compact license and current acute care specialty experience.

Details

  • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes telemetry, respiratory, cardiac, orthopedic, renal, neurological, and oncology cases
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
  • Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Ohio state or compact) in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience in the PCU/telemetry specialty within the last 12 months
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Prior charge experience preferred
  • Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with IV therapy, central/PICC/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
  • Competency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response protocols
  • Experience with insulin drip titration and IV insulin protocols preferred
  • Experience monitoring chemotherapy patients preferred
  • Skilled in pre/post neurosurgery and orthopedic trauma/total joint care preferred
  • Experience with pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure management
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor and the second from a charge RN; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU/stepdown patients requiring telemetry and respiratory monitoring
  • Utilize cardiac drip management, insulin protocols, and isolation precautions as part of daily patient care
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees are eligible for a new travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are not eligible for a travel assignment at any of its Ohio locations
  • RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract, either by traveling to an in-state location or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet
