Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a PCU position requiring an active Alabama or compact RN license and strong cardiac monitoring experience.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes MS/Tele, Tele, and PCU/Stepdown cases
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Float to MedSurg units as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (Alabama or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
• Experience with any charting system required
• Must be able to start IVs, manage heparin protocols, and manage cardiac drips (no titration)
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Knowledge of respiratory care including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and PPE protocols

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for cardiac and telemetry patients, including monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and emergency response
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and blood products as needed
• Must work at least one holiday shift, either Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day
• Requested time off (RTO) limited to a maximum of 7 days
• Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a lower pay rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel assignment
• Pending license candidates may be considered
