Travel Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) | Night Shift

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Travel | 13-Week Assignment | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required | Projected Start: August 10, 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care on a 44-bed Progressive Care Unit with a patient ratio of 4:1 (up to 5:1 when stretched)
  • Perform neurological and spinal assessments, including C-collar placement and TLSO brace management
  • Manage chest tubes, PCA pumps, IV infusions, lumbar drains, and feeding tube placement
  • Administer blood transfusions and monitor patient responses
  • Operate unit equipment including IV pumps, Skylift, and patient lifts; document care using Cerner EMR
  • Float to stepdown and med-surg units as needed; collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including CNCs, CNAs, and HUCs

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a Progressive Care, Stepdown, or IMC setting
  • Neuro and trauma care experience required
  • Proficiency with Cerner EMR

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Dedicated neuro and trauma unit experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with lumbar drain management and complex neurological patient populations
  • Team-oriented, patient-focused approach to care delivery
