Contract | Travel | 13-Week Assignment | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | Projected Start: August 10, 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive admitted patients from the Emergency Department and complete thorough Admission Assessments in a fast-paced Clinical Decision / Direct Admit Unit focused on ED decompression and enhanced throughput
  • Perform Medication Reconciliation and initiate acute care orders to reduce overall patient length of stay
  • Provide step-down and medical-surgical level care for patients presenting with a wide variety of diagnoses at a 1:5 step-down or 1:6 med-surg patient ratio
  • Document all patient care activities accurately using Cerner electronic health records
  • Operate Baxter IV pumps and perform minimal bedside procedures consistent with the unit environment
  • Float to other units within skill set as needed and assist with holiday coverage on an every-other-weekend schedule

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in MedSurg, Telemetry (remote), and Step-Down / PCU level care
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Proficiency with Cerner documentation system
  • Strong teamwork orientation with a positive attitude suited for a high-volume, quick-turnover environment

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Charge Nurse experience or willingness to serve in a charge capacity
  • Additional clinical certifications beyond the required minimums
  • Well-rounded clinical background across multiple diagnoses and patient populations
