Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Progressive Care Unit position requiring 2+ years of PCU experience and NIH Stroke Scale certification.

Details

• Work in a 30-bed Medical Neuroscience Progressive Care department focused on medical neurological patients
• Unit utilizes a Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD) for patient surveillance
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00pm-7:30am
• Rotating weekend requirement
• Float required as needed across all Cone Health facilities
• 1:5 patient ratio on the PCU unit
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Neuro PCU experience required
• Experience with CVA care, external CPAP/BiPAP, TR band, and Yale Swallowing screen required
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• Skills in respiratory care including non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and central line care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry
• Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration required)

Additional Information

• Provide care for medical neurological and stepdown patients including CVA cases
• Must pass a Pass/Fail compliance EKG exam with up to two attempts allowed
• Study materials for the EKG exam are not provided and candidates should prepare in advance
• Staff scheduling is self-assisted through a 6-week scheduling system
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local rates apply
