Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Stepdown/PCU position requiring stepdown or acute neuro experience and ACLS certification.

Details

• Work on a 30-bed Neuro unit with 22 Acute Care beds and 8 Stepdown beds
• Patient ratios are 6:1 on Acute Care and 4:1 on Neuro Stepdown
• Unit staffed with a charge RN over the full floor, 1-2 techs, and a unit secretary
• Acute Care side uses vital sign machines, high flow oxygen, chest tubes, suction, and various drips for stroke care
• Neuro Stepdown side uses Vapotherm, BiPAP, trach care, and titrating cardiac drips
• Common procedures include lumbar puncture and chest tube placement
• Uses Meditech for documentation
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend shifts required
• Experienced nurses may float to other units after orientation

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or Compact) required
• BLS required for Acute Care; BLS and ACLS required for Neuro Stepdown
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in the specialty required
• Stepdown or acute neuro experience preferred
• Strong critical thinking, nursing, and time management skills required

• Provide bedside shift report, build personal connections with patients, and participate in daily huddles
• Dress code includes black, blue, or grey scrubs, with any color permitted on Fridays
• Unit is considered a strong starting point for nurses pursuing future ICU roles
• Facility offers staff recognition programs including ICARE recognition, shout-out board, and employee of the month
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months
