Description

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown/PCU RN for a Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring an active IL license, BLS, and NIHSS certification with at least 1 year of experience.

Details

• Stepdown/PCU/IMC unit within an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet teaching hospital
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (1845-0715), with ability to accommodate 4x12s if preferred
• Works every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required
• Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central/PICC/arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, chest tubes, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response/code team involvement
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted

Additional Information

• Care for stepdown/PCU patients with cardiac, neuro, respiratory, and general medical-surgical needs
• Scrub color may be any solid color
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• RTO requests ideally limited to 5 days or fewer
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
