Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit role requiring at least 1 year of PCU/telemetry experience and comfort with BiPAP/CPAP and charge responsibilities.

Details

• Blended Med-Surg and PCU unit setting
• Standard Med-Surg assignments typically 4:1, PCU assignments typically 3:1, with travelers occasionally flexed to 5:1 Med-Surg assignments based on unit needs
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• Floating required within OSU
• Unionized nursing staff with specific guidelines for flexing nurse assignments

Requirements

• Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Charge RN experience preferred
• Must be comfortable with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titration of cardiac drips required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with feeding tube care, heparin protocols, and PCA management
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a blended Med-Surg/PCU environment with a focus on respiratory, cardiac, and GI management
• Participate in rapid response/code team activations as needed
• Ohio fingerprinting (BCI & FBI) must be completed promptly after accepting an offer, including lifetime background checks
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former facility employees eligible to return as travelers after 6 months away from the facility
• Current OSU employees are ineligible for travel assignments at any Ohio State University hospital location
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
