Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring PA or compact RN license and at least 1 year of PCU experience.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
• Patient ratios range from 4-5:1 up to 6:1
• 4x12 hour rotating day/night shift schedule (3x12 also accepted)
• Shifts run 19:00-7:30 (nights) and 7:00-19:30 (days)
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating required within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius if needed
• Cerner EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Minimum 1 year of PCU nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral/PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac drip management, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with isolation precautions, wound care, and IV insulin protocols
• Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac cath/angiogram, and TR band care
• SSN, DOB, driver's license, and RTO required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to cardiac, renal, neurological, and post-surgical patients on a progressive care unit
• Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
• First time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former permanent employees must have a 2-year break before returning through an agency
• Travelers who complete a cumulative year within the health system must take a two-year break before returning
• Candidates must be available to work every other holiday
• Fingerprinting, drug screen, and required labs must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing
• All compliance requirements must be cleared by the Wednesday prior to start
• Two supervisor references preferred
