RN - PCU/Stepdown
Job Details:
• PCU/Stepdown unit with cardiac drip experience required - must be able to titrate and manage cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Every other weekend required (Friday-Saturday for nights or Saturday-Sunday for days/evenings)
• No on-call required
• Block schedules not required
• 48-hour shifts approved
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5
• 42-bed unit serving adult and geriatric patient populations
• Common patient diagnoses include CHF, Afib RVR, chest pain/rule out MI, heart cath, cardiac drips, and traditional medical-surgical patients
• May float to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical floors if overstaffed
• May be expected to float between sister facilities nearby contracted facility
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Scrub color: Any color for RNs
• No parking fee
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Charge experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Key skills required include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, chest tube management, cardiac drip titration, vasoactive drip titration, insulin drip titration, heparin protocols, interpretation of dysrhythmias, pacemaker management, PICC line management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Cardiac monitoring equipment used on unit
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
• Candidates may choose one holiday - either Thanksgiving or Christmas - but cannot have both off
Facility:
This is a short-term acute care facility and Level II Trauma Center with Level II Pediatric Trauma Center designation. With 629 total staffed beds, this teaching hospital provides a comprehensive range of medical services supported by robust interdisciplinary teams. The facility utilizes Epic for charting and offers a well-equipped environment with access to advanced cardiac monitoring and a wide range of specialty support services.
