Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN with strong PICU experience for a Magnet, Level I Trauma teaching hospital requiring 2+ years of recent PICU/CVPICU experience and a DC RN license.

Details

  • Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position within a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 320 staffed beds
  • Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2, with ratios up to 1:3 when floating to NICU
  • Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) available
  • Every other weekend required, with openness to blocked weekend scheduling
  • Every other holiday required, with one holiday guaranteed based on preference
  • Float requirement between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU units caring for all ages
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license required, with pending license applicants accepted if application is submitted within 24-48 hours of signing and active license obtained before start
  • MD/VA candidates require a compact or state license
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required, with 3 years and some NICU/CICU experience highly preferred
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Comfort and competency floating between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU required
  • Strong skill set in respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, neurologic, and emergency medication management for pediatric critical care patients

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across NICU, PICU, and CVPICU units as needed
  • Scrubs may be any color but must be child-friendly and logo-free
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days; a full week of consecutive RTO requires extending the assignment by one week to make up missed shifts
  • No RTO permitted after accepting the initial offer
  • Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous Children's National employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year to be eligible
  • Pre-start training modules must be completed prior to orientation
  • Skills and experience with ECMO, CRRT, congenital heart disease/repair, and post cardiac surgery care are valued for this role
