Description
American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Stepdown RN for a night shift assignment requiring an IL RN license in hand, PICU-level experience, and expertise with vent, trach, and G-tube patients.
Details
- Inpatient pediatric stepdown unit with 39 beds covering all specialties
- Patients range from 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50-60% requiring technology dependence
- Acute care unit for patients with chronic illness including tracheostomies and chronic ventilator dependence
- No drips, surgical, or transitional patients on this unit
- Patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
- Open to block scheduling accommodations
- Uses Meditech charting system
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration (compact licenses not accepted)
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior experience with 1:4 patient ratios required
- Experience with ventilator, tracheostomy, and gastric tube (G-tube) care required
- Meditech charting system experience required
- PICU experience preferred
- Flu vaccine required, with medical and religious exemptions accepted
Additional Information
- Provide care for pediatric patients with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator needs
- Perform tracheostomy care and management of gastric tubes
- Scrubs of any color accepted as long as neat and clean, peds-themed attire encouraged
- Free parking available in shared lots at the public park where the facility is located
- RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to start date, with no additions allowed after the contract begins
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Previous staff members of this facility or its affiliated clinics are not eligible for consideration
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Candidates with pending IL RN licenses may be considered
