Job Summary
The organization is seeking a Pediatric Step Down Registered Nurse (RN) for a position at the Meyerhoff unit located on the first floor of a Baltimore campus. This role involves providing specialized care for pediatric patients with conditions such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, burns, feeding disorders, and post-orthopedic surgical patients requiring intensive therapy. The RN will work in a mixed unit focused on rehabilitation, with responsibilities including ventilator and trach management, IV therapy, and respiratory support.

Job Details

• Certifications: BLS, CPI
• Education Requirements: Active MD or Compact State RN License, minimum of 2 years of experience in a step down or pediatric care setting, with at least 1 year of recent pediatric experience.
• Location Requirements: Must hold an active MD state or compact RN license at the time of submission.
• Experience Requirements: Minimum of 2 years in a relevant pediatric or step down unit.
• Schedule: 3x12 rotating days and nights shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Responsibilities include caring for pediatric and adolescent patients with diagnoses such as TBI, spinal cord injuries, GSW, MVA, burns, feeding disorders, failure to thrive, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, post-ortho surgical patients, and respiratory or cardiac patients requiring extensive ST/PT/OT.
• Float: Float rotation may be required within the specialty and other departments; may also float to a different campus as needed, with rare occurrence.
• Additional Information: Must be comfortable floating within scope, working with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. The unit operates with a patient-to-staff ratio of 1:4 and maintains a flexible schedule to accommodate every other weekend and scheduled holiday work.
