Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatrics RN for a night shift role requiring PALS certification and 2 years of experience in a teaching hospital setting.

Details

• Pediatrics unit in a hospital setting, including Pediatric MedSurg, Pediatric Oncology, and Pediatric Step Down
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• 36 or 48 hour contracts available
• 13-week assignment length
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Floating required, including as a Patient Observer/Sitter anywhere in the organization
• Cerner charting system preferred
• Required to take call and work assigned weekends

Requirements

• Active MO or Compact RN license in hand required (no pending licenses)
• PALS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood & blood products, starting and maintaining IVs, TPN/lipids, and pediatric dosage calculations
• Experience with oxygen delivery systems, oral/nasal suctioning, and NG tube insertion/management
• Experience with wound assessment/care, isolation precautions/PPE, and insertion/management of indwelling urinary catheters
• Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs

Additional Information

• Provide direct pediatric nursing care across MedSurg, Oncology, and Step Down units
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays, and during inclement weather as this is a 24/7 healthcare facility
• Required to work at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract
• Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none allowed during the first week due to orientation
• Local candidates are accepted, though those within 50 miles are not eligible and those residing 51-74 miles away will be offered the local rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses
