Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense medications, oversee non-pharmacist personnel in the medication use process, and ensure all prescription and medication orders are accurate, complete, appropriate, and compliant with state and federal requirements
• Provide specialized pharmaceutical services including advising clinical staff on drug therapy, toxicity, side effects, dosing, and drug supply management
• Conduct and evaluate medication use reviews, assess patient compliance and outcomes, and instruct patients in the proper use of prescribed medications
• Maintain relationships with medical and nursing staff by providing timely information on pharmaceuticals, therapeutic options, drug compatibility, and regulatory standards
• Provide monthly consulting services to contracted long-term care facilities and contribute to drug use guidelines, therapeutic bulletins, and departmental policies
• Mentor healthcare professionals in training, including pharmacy, medical, and nursing students, through both practical and didactic experiences

Required Qualifications

• Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy
• Current Nebraska license to practice pharmacy, obtained through successful passage of a licensure exam in accordance with NABP standards
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to comply with HIPAA standards and maintain strict patient confidentiality

Preferred Experience / Skills

• PharmD degree
• Three or more years of retail pharmacy experience
• Familiarity with long-term care pharmacy consulting
• Experience mentoring pharmacy or other healthcare students
