Job Description & Requirements
Physical Therapist - Rehabilitation - (PT - Rehab)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 D Pay Rate: $2206.00 - $2273.00

Louisiana licensed PT needed for 12 week assignment inpatient rehab duties in Baton Rouge. All adult patient base. M-F 7:30a-4p; occasional weekends. This inpatient Physical Therapist position is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a lively capital city along the Mississippi River that offers a unique blend of Southern charm, rich history, and modern amenities. Baton Rouge is known for its vibrant culture, rooted in Cajun and Creole traditions, its energetic arts and music scene, and its celebrated food, with numerous restaurants, cafes, and local eateries showcasing the flavors of the region. The city is home to Louisiana State University, bringing year-round collegiate events, sports, and educational opportunities. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy walking and biking along the riverfront, visiting nearby parks and nature areas, and exploring historic neighborhoods and landmarks. Baton Rouge also hosts festivals, live performances, and family-friendly activities throughout the year, making it an inviting location whether you are local or relocating. In this role, you will practice in a hospital-based inpatient environment, working closely with a multidisciplinary team that typically includes physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and case managers. The setting provides exposure to a wide variety of patient diagnoses, ranging from post-surgical and orthopedic cases to neurologic, cardiopulmonary, and medically complex conditions. This diversity offers strong professional growth and the opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills in acute and subacute care. A typical day in this position includes completing comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based interventions to promote functional mobility, independence, and safe discharge planning. You will perform gait and balance training, transfer training, stair negotiation, therapeutic exercise, and patient and caregiver education for safe home and community mobility. Participation in interdisciplinary rounds and collaboration on discharge recommendations are key responsibilities, supporting timely and effective transitions of care. Patient ratios are designed to allow for meaningful one-on-one treatment sessions while supporting appropriate caseload volume in a busy inpatient setting. You may work across different units such as medical-surgical floors, telemetry, orthopedic units, and potentially step-down or intensive care areas, depending on experience and facility needs. The hospital environment emphasizes safety, high-quality care, and teamwork, creating a supportive atmosphere for both experienced therapists and those looking to deepen their inpatient expertise. Shifts typically align with daytime hours, with some weekend and holiday coverage as part of the core inpatient therapy schedule. Daily use of an electronic medical record system ensures streamlined documentation, order management, and communication with the broader care team. The facility’s focus on collaborative practice, ongoing learning, and quality improvement provides opportunities to participate in clinical projects, refine skills, and contribute to patient-centered initiatives. This position is well-suited for a Physical Therapist who values working in a dynamic inpatient setting, enjoys complex and varied caseloads, and wants to live and work in a growing, culturally rich city. Baton Rouge’s combination of heritage, entertainment, educational institutions, and accessible outdoor activities offers an appealing lifestyle both inside and outside of work.
