The physical therapist evaluates and treats patients for rehabilitation. They utilize electronic medical records to complete evaluations, reports and discharge summaries. The role involves supervising assistants related to patient care. Communication with physicians and other healthcare providers is essential to ensure quality care. Accurate patient chart documentation and follow-up on prescriptions, test results, and authorizations are required. The physical therapist must ensure patient comfort and address questions as needed. Collaboration with front office staff for scheduling and patient follow-up is expected. Independent decision-making regarding patient care is a necessary skill. Involvement in business marketing and referral processes may be required. Compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures is mandatory. Knowledge of billing policies and procedures for various insurance types is essential. Physical demands include the ability to engage in standing, walking, and assisting with patient mobility. Travel is not required for this position. All employees are expected to protect patient privacy in accordance with privacy policies. Participation in privacy training and communication of policies to coworkers and patients is required. The physical therapist must remain alert for patient safety throughout their duties.
