Current Basic Life Support CPR certification. Valid Driver's license. High school diploma or equivalent. Description: This position focuses on providing Physical Therapy Assistant treatments. Physical therapy is a core service provided by this organization. The role involves performing in a professional manner and respecting confidentiality. Demonstrates qualities endorsed by following the prescribed standards for service excellence. Services are to be provided in compliance with applicable standards, licensure requirements, and practice standards of Physical Therapy. Physical therapist assistants work as part of a team to provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist. PTAs implement selected components of patient/client interventions and obtain data related to the interventions provided. They make modifications in selected interventions to progress the patient/client or ensure safety and comfort. PTAs assist in the treatment of individuals of all ages with medical problems or health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities. They cannot attempt to practice physical therapy that has not been initiated, supervised, and terminated by a licensed physical therapist. A PTA's responsibilities do not include testing or evaluation. The physical therapist is responsible for the services provided by the PTA. Physical therapists examine each individual and develop a treatment plan to promote mobility, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. PTs work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility by developing fitness and wellness-oriented programs. PTAs are required to maintain a high standard of integrity in the profession and adhere to ethical standards. Key functions include providing therapy treatments from the physical therapist's plan of care. They review clinical records and case histories, attending meetings to review patient status and needs. PTAs collaborate with team members to ensure appropriate medical equipment is arranged and care plans are established prior to discharge. Documentation of patient encounter findings and treatments is done according to policies. Services are provided in both inpatient and outpatient populations as assigned. PTAs direct the work of support staff and help develop and implement patient education and therapy programs. They provide patients and families with home exercise programs to achieve rehabilitative potential. Advising patients and family members in self-care and independence methods is essential. Home programs must be clear and concise, ensuring understanding through feedback and demonstrations. PTAs assist in administrative matters and clinic operations as appropriate. Regular participation in education and training is expected to enhance clinical services. They are required to maintain knowledge of therapy procedures and practices. Additionally, PTAs must demonstrate sensitivity to cross-cultural issues. They may also assist in committee and management duties within the Client Department. Occasional travel to remote locations may be required for service delivery. Physical demands include repetitive lifting and the necessity of maintaining good body mechanics. Adherence to safety standards regarding exposure to infectious organisms is crucial. PTAs must communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues. Sound judgment in patient care and workplace safety is necessary. Perform other duties as assigned.
