Occupational Therapist
Job Details:
• 13-week assignment with 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Alternate weekend schedule required
• Scheduling needs are every Friday through Sunday, all 8-9 hour shifts, plus one mid-week shift either on the ARC or acute care side
• 16-bed unit with patient ratios of 3-5 patients per day
• Therapists see patients 90 minutes per day, split into two 45-minute blocks
• On weekends during low staffing and high census, may see most patients for one 45-minute block to accommodate more patients
• No therapy aides on staff; PCTs occasionally assist with patients when available
• Cross training on acute care side will occur during week two
• If census is low, traveler will be floated to the acute care side of the hospital
• Must have a strong understanding of neuro, multi-trauma, and medically complex diagnoses
• Must be able to complete thorough chart reviews with a strong understanding of lab values, weight bearing precautions, and related clinical knowledge
• Must be flexible, demonstrate strong documentation skills, communicate effectively, manage time well, and work as a team player
• Advanced skills required: proficiency with mobility devices and lift systems, understanding of back braces, UE/LE positioning devices, hip/spine/cardiac precautions, and clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
• Procedures performed on unit include: neuro re-education, gait training, balance, wheelchair training, cognitive re-education, vestibular training, energy conservation, BUE/BLE ROM and strengthening, orthotic use and fit, home safety and family training
• Equipment used: Sara Stedy, Vector, BITS, BURT, Bioness H200 UE, ARJO mobility device and mechanical lift, Liko overhead lift, walkers, canes, and wheelchairs
• Documentation systems: EPIC and UDS
• Previous acute rehab or acute care experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS (up to date), Utah PT license
• Dress code: Gray scrub top and black scrub pants with closed-toed shoes; gray business casual shirt and black pants also acceptable; no logos, jeans, leggings, or shorts permitted
• All staff required to wear their badge while on the clock
• All staff working more than 6 hours are required to take a 30-minute lunch break
Facility:
This facility is home to a Ground West Rehabilitation Center (ARC) located on the ground floor of the main hospital building. The unit is a 16-bed acute rehabilitation center supported by a tenured and close-knit therapy team that collaborates well with nursing and other disciplines. The facility has been recognized as a FY 2021 and 2024 Top Performer within UDSMR and a 2023 Unit of Distinction, placing in the top 10% for Quality Care and Culture of Engagement.
