Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PICU position requiring BLS, PALS certification, and 2 years of relevant experience with a VA or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a hospital setting
- 13-week assignment
- Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00) or Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00), with possible rotation between shifts
- Every other holiday required
- 3 weekends required per six-week schedule
- May float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs, within scope of practice
- 1:2 patient ratio
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Prior charge nurse experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- BSN preferred
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Pediatric cardiac experience a plus
- Two professional references required
- Nursys license verification required
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients requiring intensive monitoring and intervention
- Skills utilized may include ventilator management, arterial line management, CRRT, EVD/ICP monitoring, and management of dysrhythmias, among other pediatric critical care competencies
- Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved after offer acceptance
- No time off approved during the first 2 weeks of the contract
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to submission
- Previous permanent staff or internal/external traveler employment at this health system requires 1-year separation and leadership approval
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
