Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift PICU RN with at least 2 years of PICU experience for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Details

  • ICU (PICU) at a 28-bed unit caring for pediatric patients ages 0-18 with medical and surgical diagnoses
  • Patient population includes respiratory compromise, trauma, post-operative surgical, and neurology/neurosurgery cases
  • Unit provides ventilatory and cardiac support, ECMO, CRRT, renal or peritoneal dialysis, and other complex therapies
  • Mixed ICU and stepdown patients with variable ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3
  • Interdisciplinary support available including Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacists
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Up to 5 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • >ive Active RC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required in hhand
  • currentL current AHA BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
  • ,
  • )Preferred experience with ECMO and CRRT
  • Preferred prior charge nurse experience
  • Preferred Epic EMR experience
  • Preferred experience in teaching hospitals and Level I Trauma centers
  • Driver's license and SSN required for consideration

  • Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, and Magnet-designated hospital with 820 total staffed beds
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, though an interview is preferred for candidates on their first travel assignment
  • Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of application, as approval is based on unit needs
  • Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local, with priority given to non-local applicants
  • Holiday coverage required if the contract falls during a holiday period
  • Block scheduling may be requested but requires manager approval and is dependent on unit needs
  • Staff may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season, which runs from June through November
