Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) position in Ohio, requiring current PICU experience, Epic proficiency, and an OH or Compact RN license in hand.
Details
- PICU setting within a large pediatric hospital
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Floating required to NICU, CV PICU, ED, stepdown, and med-surg units as needed; travelers must be prepared to comply with facility float expectations
- Epic EMR — required
- Patient population is pediatric critical care
- Teaching hospital experience is preferred
Requirements
- OH or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS and PALS
- Minimum 2 years of current PICU experience required; candidates with 1.5–2 years may be considered
- Current PICU experience must be clearly reflected in work history — CV PICU experience alone is not sufficient
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- First-time travelers may be considered with closer to 3 years of PICU experience and recent Level 1 facility background
- Recent Level 1 hospital experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two supervisory references required, with at least one from a manager or supervisor-titled role
- Proficiency with respiratory skills including ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and end-tidal CO2 monitoring
- Proficiency with IV therapy skills including arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, and PICC line management
- Proficiency with cardiovascular skills including hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Proficiency with pediatric medication administration including vasopressors, continuous sedation, anti-seizure medications, antiarrhythmics, and pediatric dosage calculations
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position — local candidates are not accepted
- Candidates who have previously worked permanently for this health system must have a gap of at least 2 years before being considered
- Attendance and punctuality are strictly enforced; no call/no-shows are taken very seriously and may result in termination
