Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) travel assignment requiring at least 18 months of permanent experience and active OH or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Hospital-based PICU setting treating patients from infancy through age 25
  • Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM (3x12-hour shifts)
  • Specialized care includes epilepsy monitoring and management of patients on inotropes
  • EKG/ECG rhythm recognition is required in this role
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand — no pending licenses accepted
  • Current AHA or American Red Cross BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required and must be active and in hand — no pending certifications accepted
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 18 months of permanent (non-travel) PICU or pediatric specialty experience required prior to any travel assignments
  • Minimum 18 months of recent pediatric experience required — travel experience may count toward this requirement
  • Experience with epilepsy monitoring, EKG/ECG rhythm recognition, and inotrope management
  • One professional reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the applying specialty required — reference must be from an assignment worked within the past 12 months; co-worker references are not accepted
  • Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
  • No open background check cases; no license violations on record
  • BCI/FBI fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signing the contract

Additional Information

  • Local candidates are accepted for this position
  • Holiday coverage required — travelers must work at least every other holiday
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed prior to or at time of interview
  • ECG rhythm recognition and safeMedicate assessments are completed during orientation; a passing score on both is required, with a maximum of two attempts allowed
  • Pre-start modules are required and average 6–15 hours to complete
  • Former permanent or per diem employees of this health system must wait at least 1 year from their previous end date before working a travel assignment there
  • Nurses are exempt from nicotine-free facility requirements (exemption is temporary and honored until further notice)
  • Travelers may remain on assignment for a maximum of 18 consecutive months, after which a 6-month break is required before returning to any location within this health system
