Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) position requiring at least 18 months of PICU experience and active BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Details

  • Inpatient hospital PICU setting
  • Specializes in epilepsy monitoring and care for patients ranging from infants up to 25 years of age
  • Rotating day/night shifts: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM and 7:00 PM–7:30 AM (3x12-hour shifts)
  • Shift rotation may be required based on operational needs, though preferred shift will be honored when possible
  • ECG rhythm recognition and safeMedicate assessments are completed during orientation with a required passing score (maximum of 2 attempts)

Requirements

  • Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or American Red Cross), ACLS, and PALS — all must be active and in hand; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
  • Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in PICU or pediatric specialty required prior to travel assignments
  • 18 months of recent pediatric experience required (travel experience is acceptable)
  • Experience with EKG/ECG rhythm recognition and inotropes required
  • One professional reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the applicable specialty, from an assignment worked within the past 12 months — co-worker references are not accepted
  • Valid Driver's License and Social Security Card required for consideration
  • No open background case or license hits — background hits are reviewed on a case-by-case basis but open cases are not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provides specialized pediatric critical care including epilepsy monitoring and management of a broad pediatric age range up to 25 years
  • Must work at least every other holiday
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Former permanent or per diem employees of Cleveland Clinic must wait a minimum of 1 year from their previous end date before being considered
  • Travelers may remain on assignment for a maximum of 18 consecutive months; a 6-month break is required before returning to any Cleveland Clinic location
  • BCI/FBI fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signing a contract
  • Nicotine-free requirements are currently waived for nurses (exemption is temporary and honored until further notice)
  • Pre-start orientation modules averaging 6–15 hours are required and completed prior to the assignment start date
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed prior to or at the time of consideration
