Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to critically ill adults and geriatric patients in the ICU, including ongoing assessment and individualized care plans.
- Monitor hemodynamics, interpret vital signs, and respond to changes in patient condition in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Manage airway and ventilator support as trained, administer medications and IV therapies per physician orders and protocols, and document outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Perform and assist with ICU procedures within scope of practice; coordinate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other specialists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Ensure patient safety, infection prevention, and adherence to hospital policies; communicate clearly with families and team members to support the Healing Environment.
Requirements
- Active NYS RN licensure
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation
- NIHSS certification required
- Basic Coronary Care knowledge within 6 months of hire
- CPI certification within 90 days of hire
- Preferred: ENA certification within 2 years of hire; TNCC recommended within 2 years of hire
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion; strong teamwork, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in an ICU setting with adult and geriatric patients
