Position Title: Travel Registered Nurse – Operating Room
Location: Hobbs, NM 88240
Weekly Hours: 40 Hours
Schedule: Day Shift | 5x8s (07:00 AM – 03:00 PM)
Assignment Duration: 8 Weeks (High potential for extension or permanent placement)


Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (OR) to provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in a fast-paced surgical setting. The role involves supporting a broad range of surgical procedures while ensuring patient safety, maintaining strict sterile technique, and collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the surgical team.

The ideal candidate will be confident working across multiple specialties, including orthopedic, general surgery, gynecology, podiatry, trauma, and endoscopy.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room
  • Assist with surgical procedures across multiple specialties
  • Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and infection control protocols
  • Perform preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient assessments
  • Manage surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Participate in Universal Protocol (time-out procedures)
  • Monitor patients receiving conscious sedation
  • Support specimen handling, labeling, and documentation
  • Initiate and manage peripheral IV access
  • Assist with wound care and post-operative recovery support
  • Respond to emergency situations, including code events
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in Epic EMR
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and OR staff

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room nursing experience
  • Experience in general OR or ambulatory surgical settings
  • Ability to circulate and assist across multiple surgical specialties
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Strong understanding of OR workflows, safety standards, and sterile technique

Education & Licensure

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Current BLS Certification (Required)
  • Current ACLS Certification (Required)
  • Current PALS Certification (Required)

Experience Requirements

  • 1–2+ years of recent OR experience required
  • Multi-specialty surgical experience preferred (orthopedic, general, gynecology, trauma)
  • C-section experience is a plus (not required)
  • Experience with Epic EMR required
  • Comfortable with on-call responsibilities
  • Ability to float within surgical departments if needed
  • Must meet all facility compliance and credentialing requirements
