ICU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,090–$2,200
- Location: New Haven, Connecticut
- Assignment Length: 10 weeks
- Start Date: November 6, 2026; must start by December 18, 2026
- Schedule: 3 or 4 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Call Requirement: None
- Healthcare Setting: Short-term acute care hospital in a Level I trauma environment
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Typical Patient Ratios: 1:2
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic
- Orientation: 16 hours
- Floating: ICU and step-down units across two nearby campuses; shuttle transportation is available between campuses
ICU Travel Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; a pending Connecticut license may be considered but must be active before the start date
- At least 2 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
- Experience caring for critically ill adult and geriatric patients
- Experience with arterial line management, ventilated patients, central line care, continuous IV sedation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring
- Ability to float within scope of practice to ICU specialties and step-down units, including pulmonary step-down care with ratios of approximately 1:3
- Strong adaptability, communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills
- Travel nursing experience is welcome but not required
Critical Care RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in ICU and step-down settings
- Float among multiple critical care specialties, which may include medical, surgical, cardiac, cardiothoracic, and neurological intensive care
- Assess patients, develop and update individualized care plans, and evaluate responses to treatment
- Manage ventilated patients, continuous IV sedation, arterial lines, central lines, dysrhythmias, pulmonary artery catheters, and ventriculostomies within demonstrated competency
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate clinical concerns to the interdisciplinary care team
- Administer medications and treatments safely while maintaining accurate Epic documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to support high-quality patient outcomes
- Adapt efficiently to varying unit workflows, patient populations, and staffing needs while maintaining professional standards of care
